If you haven't seen the original post in general discussion then go HERE.

Try to keep this to discussion about the game.

If you want to discuss things before the time limit is up that is fine but keep it spoiler free.

The aim is to finish it by the 24th May.

I've never played or seen gameplay of this game before but have heard great things so I'm certainly looking forward to playing. Hope everyone has fun!

I've beaten this game before, but I'd be happy to join in the discussion after you guys finish.
I've been meaning to play this game for a while, so maybe this will motivate me.
Purchased and downloaded. I'll give it a go this weekend.

Do it [enter smiley with shaking fist here]
Funnily enough, I finished this game around a month ago, so I'm ready to discuss it whenever you lot are.
Well I've finished the game!
I might have to do this! I never finished my first Xbox copy and have it sitting on my hard drive now waiting to be played. Can I also talk about the book I am reading? Puhleaaassseee? :D
Well the 'time limit' is up so people should have hopefully finished it by now!

I'm not sure if anyone still remembers about this but once we get a few replies here we can start some kind of discussion. Though to be honest I've forgotten most things that I wanted to bring up.

What book are you reading? I don't know if it will fit into here but I'm always up for a discussion.
The intro to this game is badass. Kinda silly with Jade doing Tai-Chi seconds before a battle's been announced, but man. The voice acting, the music (especially when everything all starts to slow down while she's fighting for the first time), it's beautiful. When I started, I didn't look anything up on the controls so I was completely lost about what to do, but start hitting enough buttons and it's pretty easy.
My general opinion of things.

Personally I thought it was a pretty decent game, but I had one major gripe, and that is the story didn't seem to be suited to the gameplay.

As the story goes, you're just a reporter who must gather evidence of the Alpha Sections' shenanigans in order to incite a revolt against them. As gameplay goes, Jade is a one-woman army and thus the whole emphasis on evidence gathering seems a little redundant considering you could easily kill every one of them single-handedly. Granted, the Alpha Sections themselves can kill you with a mean look, but so can you, provided said mean look is aimed at their air tanks. Not to mention, if you have Peyje or Double-H present, you can take about four of them in a frontal assault with no trouble whatsoever. Basically, the gameplay was far too action-focused for my liking, considering the story it's accompanying.

Furthermore, Jade joining up with the Iris Network immediately after they knowingly sent her to fight a giant flying snake without informing her of said airborne reptile without so much as a "you guys are assholes" was a wee bit implausible.

Other than that, I quite enjoyed it. It was kind of like a sci-fi Zelda. Not to mention the soundtrack is great.

The intro was quite good though I thought the game was bugging out when it slowed down, mostly because of the graphical bugs I sometimes got.

I totally get that the gameplay didn't suit the story much and the action segments didn't really fit in with the stealth parts for me. The stealth parts were pretty fun but it felt jarring to go from sneaking around to a full on brawl.

I loved the characters and dialogue best, especially Peyje. The story was fairly decent but pretty predictable (as most are so that's fine).

I didn't really like the whole having to get pearls to go onto the next part of the story. I don't know if I missed something but I was always expecting there to be something special about the pearls since they popped out of every boss-like guy you beat. The looter caves were awesome though.

The camera bugged me a bit sometimes and the final boss was pretty annoying. I thought the whole backwards controls was cool but the boss was pretty cheap with its ability to knock you down and keep you in a corner.

Overall an enjoyable game.
It's weird, it seems like to compensate for overreaching on the action part and skimping on her being this out of her depth photojournalist they made her take pictures of animals as a dumb side quest. But if they'd concentrated on her being a photojournalist version of Metal Gear Solid as pretty much just a complete stealth based game, it would have balanced out much better.

The music is outstanding throughout. Propaganda!
I didn't actually get to finish this due to real life constraints, but of what I played it was good. The fact that there is a tracker for the pearls and the animals makes hunting those down fine. I plan to finish it some time, but I need to get the time to do so.

Oops on my part so many times! Hell, I don't even recall what book I was reading, then. I did just finish the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series or whatever you call it, if that helps. :)
