I played I think about half the story in linux from the linux app store(not the right phrase I know), and then found out that the saves only lasted as long as he game was running. So I installed the Windows version through GoG and the save works, and I got farther than I did before, and less far as I had apparently skipped a scene I didn't know how to get to before. I thought the bouncer would to move out of the way and invite me in, or I'd follow them in through a door they were standing in front of to block as that is how that usually works in games I play, but the door is next to him, not behind him. Now I know how to get in the club. I wonder what he would have said if I tried to just walk in without the invitation.

Any way, I'm in the club and have gotten this far, but there is no sound. I have a built in Intel hd graphics card, and it is outputting through a HDMI to a tv. Does anyone know where I find the setting to fix this problem?

Thanks for your time and help.

Do you have no sound in-game at all, or just in that specific scene of the game?

You can configure the game's sound options if you run it via ScummVM (GOG provides a shortcut that already uses ScummVM to run the game, but it skips the ScummVM launcher interface where you can configure settings per game).

Also, if you do that, please try the latest ScummVM version (currently 2.2.0) rather than the one shipped with GOG, as there were a few bugs related to music and volume settings for Beneath a Steel Sky that were resolved in ScummVM 2.2.0.
