Hi. Kickstarter project for Broken Sword 5 was started recently. It reached the goal but - here it comes interesting for BaSS discussion - they announced that if they will receive pledged worth of $1000000, Beneath a Steel Sky 2 will be greenlit.

I think it won't reach the milestone but it's good to know Revolution Studio is planning to do a sequel.

Kickstarter page can be found here.
It looks bit unlikely, it took almost 20 days to collect half of the required money and there's only 11 days left to collect the rest. However I believe that they will announce it sooner or later, probably after they have finished Broken Sword 5.

As a related question. I have heard that mobile phone version of BaSS has a new ending which gives some sort of cliffhanger or hint about a sequel. As it happens I only have the original version, because the haven't published remastered version on PC, so I was wondering if anyone can tell how the new ending is different from the original.
The iOS ending is done in the style of a teaser trailer. All I really remember is Foster walking through the city, only to be attacked by a swarm of other Foster clones and knocked out, only to wake up and see one, evil-looking Foster. It kinda reminded me of the Agent Smith clones in the Matrix sequels as , save for the evil one, the clones had rather blank expressions.
Actually, folks, he Revolution Software team has basically said that while the $1M stretch will greenlight the sequel for certain (as in, the entire team commits to it as Rev's next project), that if enough interest is shown, it will bring them to plan on making it anyway (perhaps just not right away).

So, best thing to do is to go at least pick up a pre-order for Broken Sword 5 on the Kickstarter (it's funded, just not $1M yet) and post in the comment thread that you REALLY want Steel Sky 2. If you time it right, the lead dev Tony Warriner will be on there, commenting with the rest of the backers (like he is right now), to have the most impact ;)

BS5 is planned to be cross-plat and DRM free (Linux even, yay!), so it's not like they're trying to make our enjoyment difficult or anything. I hope a few of you will help show Rev how much we still care about BaSS.

Even better news, despite not making the goal, the studio has gone ahead and green-lit BaSS 2.

Alright! It's great to know these kind of games are being made once more and garnering renewed interest
There has been such an awesome revival of oldskool adventure games and I love it.
We are getting: a new
Broken Sword game, Leisure Suit Larry remake, Space Quest successor, Double Fine adventure,
Quest for Glory successor, Jane Jenson project,
BASS 2.

I'm gonna run out of monies!

BASS2 is like a dream come true, can't wait to see the visuals and how they will retain the cyberpunk feel.
