If you've ever seen the film Blade Runner or even Mad Max, then you will be at home in this adventure game from the mid-nineties. Set in a post-apocalyptic Australia, the game follows the story of a young man trying to figure why he's been abducted and brought from his home in the wastes to the bizarre and very bureaucratic Union City.
Beneath a Steel Sky is a point-and-click adventure game in a similar vein to Space Quest IV or Sam & Max: Hit the Road among many others typical of the era. You interact with various objects in the game world in an attempt to solve various puzzles to continue the story forward.
While not a very long game, it is an enjoyable ride none-the-less. The graphics and sound are not perfect (at least anymore) but are more than adequate and very evocative of the setting. The game plays very well and there were only a few instances where I couldn't quite figure out what to do next, but that is quite common in adventure games.
If you enjoy adventure games from days past then you should enjoy this interesting tale of humanity. The price is right so why not give it a shot?
