I Want to love this game, but it is Very hard and frustrating. I almost always die too soon before I can make it back, and can never upgrade my equipment (or make any better and store them for when i inevitably die, loosing all my inventory. It would be cool if there was a difficulty option that enabled keeping inventory when you die.

Ok, I tried the Demo. It is hard on the fleeing part as well. There are things one can do to prepare, first off however.

If an area has too dangerous enemies, you can always walk elsewhere, the cave is big and keeps being created where you go. Careful when mining fast towards twinkling lights, sometimes a cracked spot is there, which when hit, causes a landslide, which can at times kill you, walk up till the thing is in range, make sure your path backwards is clear and no mob is coming, slap it once and run back. The collapse can sometimse spawn rocks which contain minerals, which you can always mine with any pickaxe, unlike the minerals in the walls, which require a stronger pickaxe. If you gather minerals, more coal is always good, since you need it always for smelting whatever else you gather.

Terrain can be your friend, and your foe. Do not fight in water, you are slowed by it. Bats are not, and most mobs are slightly slowed as well, but some are not. Most areas contain a lot of ground growth, and these mushrooms are your healing potions for a long while. 5 hp per shroom, instead of mining, your first task in any delve is to find the shrooms. more than 64 does not hurt, specially if you are not the best player.

Remember, there are Mimics. Pretending to be a treasure chest. Dont fall for it. Hit the chest before opening.

Slimes in small try and run around your main attack, standing in a 1 tile corridor prevents that, where they then just run into you to die. Seems easy enough. If there are too many, or you use a slow weapon (check weapon speed by hovering over it, swords are king) they will push through, and damage you, throwing you around. Avoid that by moving a little backwards, each time they approach and push. A little step every 1,5 seconds. Bats .. fly in straight lines, but got some homing in on you, though sometimes they dont. Small corridors, or even the crossbow can help. No real trouble in my eyes though. Potatoes and Kobolds... melee mobs that flash will jump at you, so move left right, top or bottom, depending on the direction of the enemy rush. You can use the tutorial mission to see how they jump, since you cannot die there. Check it out on a new char, just to see. Can delete it after.

Spiders.... small ones are similar to slimes, but are so weak, no challenge. Bigger spiders can shoot web at you, which slows you down, and even does a little damage. Since you can be hit easier then by other mobs, make sure to avoid it as good as you can. Walls can block the shots, and you can use the small rocks to make enemies have to go around, and you can shoot over them with the Crossbow, even attack over it, since mobs rely on just touching you for damage, for the most part.

Ranged kobolds and skeletons are really dangerous. since they, like most enemies, only follow you if they can see you, you CAN hide from them, and dig close to them. Wait until tehy walk to a wall, and hit them through it. Counter shoot through small gaps with the crossbow. Spearthrowing kobolds shoot in an arc, as long as you move, they cant hit you. Just rush up to them and slap them hard, if there are other mobs nearby however, try and lure them away, by showing yourself for a few moments, then walking back, and repeat. Just very shortly, so the projectiles cannot hit you. IMPORTANT: Spears thrown do block pathing, you you COULD get stuck by them throwing eanough. You can destroy that obstacle by melee attacking it like all the mushrooms and doodads around the game.

Crossbow skeletons... they shoot in a straight line at you, so you have to move left and right, up and down, depending on where the skeletons stands, to avoid it.

Remember, there are Mimics. Pretending to be a treasure chest. Dont fall for it. Hit the chest before opening.

Mineral worms...they mine walls, and if you kill them, you get what they mined. They ignore you otherwise. I would call them lootbugs, like from Deep Rock Galactic, but hehehehe.

I even saw a spore mushroom enemy, that avoids you. Does not attack you. But if you approach and hit it, it will spray you, and you take a lot of damamge from that.

finally, you just need to complete one quest to be able to call the escape. Take an easy one, and focus on it. Once it is done, you can call evac any time. You can gather up more shit before that too, so you can fight later or now. Prepare the location for the fight.... if there are walls around the place, they will collapse to allow mobs to see and attack you better. small rocks disappear too. mobs will close in on you, and keep spawning. How to stop that? Stay in the square, and your evac will come. Mobs come as they are killed, and as long as the evac is coming, they keep coming. If you leave the square, the percent will go down. You can return later to finish it, but the mobs will remain unless you do it. If you DO leave the evac, and not flee once it is here, you SHOULD write down the co-ordinates somewhere, just in case. its shown in the lower right corner, by the map. Once the EVAC arrives, all the spawned mobs are killed. Slimes will still split, and then jump at you as they always do, so watch out for that. Do not stand right in the middle of the evac zone as it arrives, for that will put you in it immediatly. If you enter the evac, you are still being attacked for 2,5 more seconds. Since mobs are killed by the arrival, its mostly clear, besides those pesky slimes. That could kill you still, if you are unlucky, so stand on the edge of the zone, as the evac arrives.

Remember, there are Mimics. Pretending to be a treasure chest. Dont fall for it. Hit the chest before opening.

Press E to collect mushrooms and groundgrowth, or hit them with your sword. Both works. Always hit chests before you open them.
