How to send a bug report.

INSIDE THE GAME:

Load the game.
Go to the area that has a problem.
Press TAB
Click on the large Red button that says SEND A BUG REPORT.
This will automatically send us all the relevant data, but be sure to
include a message as to what your issue is. this should be as specific as possible.

PROBLEM - GAME CRASHES ON STARTUP AFTER LOAD BAR

If you have played the game before and this is a NEW problem, it could indicate that config.ini is corrupt. You need to delete it:

Open Windows Explorer and type %userprofile%\appdata\local\ into the address bar.
Then Click on THE BROTHERHOOD and finally BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION

Delete config.ini

Restart the game.

PROBLEM - I LOST MY SAVE GAME!

The game keeps a backup copy on the hard drive BUT it will be overwritten if you load an old save OR start a new game.

Open Windows Explorer and type %userprofile%\appdata\local\ into the address bar.
Then Click on THE BROTHERHOOD and finally BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION

Locate gamestate.dat and rename it to: gamestate.bro then Restart the game and load gamestate.bro from the load menu.

PROBLEM - NO VIDEOS / BLACK SCREEN ON STARTUP:

SOLUTION 1:

VERSION 1.0.3.5 Now includes another FMV video option using Unity Native player.
Please access this from the Video Settings menu if you have any video playback issues.

SOLUTION 2:

Get K-Lite Codec Pack Basic:

Restart your PC.

SOLTION 3:

Explore the game folder launch the desolation.exe in administrator mode.

PROBLEM - GAME CRASHES ON STARTUP WITH ERROR MESSAGE:

Game crashed on startup from Steam GUI. Nothing appeared to launch. A dialogue appeared stating:

"Oops! The game crashed. The crash report folder named […] next to game executable. It would be great if you'd send it to the developer of the game!"

SOLUTION 1:

Citrix causes all sorts of errors on Unity based games. You could try upgrade to version 1911+, however you might need to uninstall it for this gaming windows profile.

PROBLEM - FRAME RATE ISSUES:

SOLUTION 1:

Make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date.

SOLUTION 2:

Some Nvidia cards (even the newer ones) may cause stuttering. You could try enable VSYNC in the Video control panel in the game.

SOLUTION 3:

You might need to use a tool like https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/rtss-rivatuner-statistics-server-download.html to limit the game to 30/60fps.

SOLUTION 4:

You can also limit Sync rate in the Nvidia settings on your desktop:

1) Open the Nvidia control panel and select BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION
2) Click Manage 3D Settings
3) Turn off AA:FXAA
4) Override Anti Aliasing to 2x
5) Turn on Triple Buffering.
6) Turn on Vsync (Avoid Adaptive / Fast)

PROBLEM - SAVE ERROR:

You should have write access to the save folder (LocalApplicationData). You can verify this was created by:
Open Windows Explorer and type %userprofile%\appdata\local\ into the address bar.
Then Click on THE BROTHERHOOD and finally BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION

If you do not see this folder, then you could try run the game as administrator.
