Translations are stored in editable CSV files.
Use Excel or any CSV editor that opens .csv files. Notepad etc will NOT work.
It is important not to alter the data structure of the csv. There are variables that control scripts and conditions in the game and these will mess up the engine if you alter them.
The strings for the localization files can be found here;
Beautiful Desolation game folder;
Assets/StreamingAssets/Languages/
The official folder contains the currently officially released translation files.
You shouldn't modify these but feel free to copy them and edit them as detailed below:
To create a new CUSTOM TRANSLATION, please do this:
1. In order to create a custom translation, create a sub-folder in the languages folder, ie 'fan_example'
2. Copy the contents from the 'official' folder into your newly created folder.
3. Open each .csv in a spreadsheet application and optionally delete the existing translations in these new csv files that exist in your new folder. Be sure to only change the language column, all the other data is required for the game to run and shouldn't be altered.
4. Replace the English translated words in your fan folder.
5. Edit the translation.ini file:
Change the amount of languages to load.
Add your new language (It is advised to duplicate 'language_0' and rename it to language_ADD THE NEXT NUMBER HERE
Change the folder location from 'official' to your new folder location, ie 'fan_example'
change the flag, language name and author name
You should not have to alter anything else in the translation.ini.
6. Reload the game, and select your new language
You can view the translations live in game, but you will need to reload the game each time you make a translation change because the engine preloads the languages on the startup process.

CONVERSATIONS:
There is a translation secret room in the game that lets you check each conversation in the game. They may take a few seconds to load because there is no pre-caching in this room.
Open up the console (press tab)and type:
roboto
and hit enter.
This room has each and every conversation in game so you can test it out.
You can also (from the same console) type in:
convo 21
and hit enter.
(replace 21) with whatever you want to review, so the number after convo is the conversation. You must be in a game scene to do this, so goto the roboto screen first, but you can quickly call any conversation by its ID.

IN GAME TESTING
Open the console from anywhere in the game (including the main menu).
Type bro
and hit enter
A menu will appear on the right that contains each area/room in the game.
You can quickly jump to these rooms to check out the strings/barks etc.
Please note that you won't be able to play from these screens as they contain no state data.
