Galenthor: it doesn't have any say in it as far as I am concerned... they may want ot assign a standard location, but we have every right to change it according to the way we want our systems to work... I too am getting this black screen bug... sometimes it's a number in the upper right hand, or sometimes it's a "press esc to skip" and it never does... and no sound either... I got to see the video of the dropship landing on the planet... spent between 15 min and a half hour sitting there watching the screen say loading heraldry whatever, and other than that, the screen has been black for the game... I recently updated my drivers on the mention that some of them may have been upgraded recently, but that hasn't done anything to fix the problem...
adzcer: Tried everything, but his one worked for me. Browse through BATTLETECH profile directory usually in:
c:\Users\%username%\AppData\LocalLow\Harebrained Schemes\BATTLETECH
(windows key + r)
then just delete 'profiles.dat' found inside (or rename it, just in case).
Rerun the game.

https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/battletech-stuck-at-black-screen-at-start-up-with-fps-counter-on-right.1092110/page-3 I finally got it working, by gettign rid of the beta, uninstalling the game, then defragging, then restarting, then goign to reinstall again... but oddly enough, I don't seeany extra content from being a backer... and this game really needs a pause button... between bio's, knocks at the door, and kids and such, can't always stay at the comp... an I refuse to lose a mech because of having to step away form the comp due to my attention needing to be elsewhere at any given time...
