Slartibartfas: Hello,
i was able to play Battletech since day one with no bugs or crashes. Today there was a huge update. And now, after the update, the game crashes every time when I start it... Whats the point in fixing something that isn't broken? Now I can wait for new patches witch fixes the game. That sux...
Anybody with the same problem?
Both patches (1.0.1 and 1.0.2) say "Trial fix for some occasional crashes when loading back into the sim-game scene."
Btw, what version are you talking about? 1.0.1 or 1.0.2?
They still recognize crash problems and don't seem to exactly know were they need to touch. so they are testing trial fixes and publishing them to see if there's no more crashes for people.
I have read on Steam and Pdox that other people with crashes after update(s) had to "verify integrity" of the game. If you are using Galaxy, i think there's such an option on "Manage" your game. I am using the classic installers so i cannot test that. In other cases verifying not solved the problem because the saves were corrupted.
If you are using classic installers or want to be able to play after verifying files (and are still having crashes), you can unistall the whole game and install the first, release version.
Anyway, there are still a lot of reports of saves problems. I recommend you to manually save your game each time you exit from the sim-game (battle) back to your ship and use just that save, not any of the automatic saves the game creates. Make a backup of that save, go to next battle and repeat the process.
I had 0 problems with save corruption, starting/loading crashes, etc but i am not using their automated saves since the first day after reading what people was saying about the game's save system.
Oh, and i'm still using the release version (no patches for the classic installers, we actually just have the whole 12 gb to download again and just for the first 1.0.1 patch, which i'm downloading right now to test)
