I just started to play and i really like the game in general.
It was already pointed out that some missions are too easy.
I had a really strange escort mission where i had to escort trucks.
I first had to liberate them from a couple of mechs, afterwards i had to escort them to the dropship location.
And here came the boring part... noone was attacking the trucks. So why do i even have to escort them?
Please improve the escort missions.
I also think that other missions can be improved. Most of them are just plain boring.
Be happy that no enemy attacked the trucks. Because if the get attacked they explode very fast. They have very little hp.

I avoid these missions because I had some with bad spawnpoints, in these missions another group of enemies spawned when the first truck reached the extraction point and they spawned so that they could attack the 3 trucks that were not in the extraction area before I had a chance to react ( in the turn they spawned they could attack ). They ignored my mechs that were closer to them and attacked directly the trucks with PPCs. One hit of a PPC is a destroyed truck :(

Only the one truck in the extraction point survived.

Well this sounds even worse. Either way this mission has to be redesigned.
IIRC the AI will ignore the escort vehicles if you manage to attack it first. Don't take my word for it, though, the random missions tend to be terribly random in all the wrong places.

As Adamant102 already stated, vehicles are made of tissue paper and risk getting totalled by a crit as soon as their armor is gone. You REALLY don't want the AI to shoot them in the first place. Especially as the game progresses, and enemy lances tend to throw 3 assaults on you, because, well, it can.

Enemy accuracy at that point also gets scary (then again, so does yours), with 5 evasion pips doing next to nothing against the barrages that get fired at you.

My main gripes with the missions are reinforcement spawns ("Don't let them flank you, commander." *Game drops off an assault lance on your flank, or drops you between two heavy lances for shit and giggles), inconsistent difficulty labeling (aka "The Skulls! They do NOTHING?!?", as it's next to impossible to fathom the math behind it) and the constant uphill battle (you're usually outnumbered, and if you're dumb enough to go straight for the plot missions, also most likely outgunned to a dangerous degree).

The basic game is solid. I've had 60+ hours of fun so far, but the entire shebang needs a bit of polish and another balancing pass. Then it has the potential to be truly great.
Spawn points in missions have begun to be addressed in the 1.0.3 beta. Still a lot of work to be done but it is a good start from what I have seen so far.
Those escort missions are tricky, but fun. What you want to do is 1) figure out where your trucks will go, and 2) make some good guesses about where the bad guys will come from. You only need one mech (pick your fastest?) to trigger the exodus, so place your other three to best guard the convoy. When the guards are in place, then trigger the convoy. Triggering mech could guard the rear, but more likely will struggle to get shots off at the bad guys, where ever they are.
