This is a workaround discovered on the forum here and it's a definite win, but could be better explained.
In your instal directory go through the file tree to:
/Battletech/BattleTech_Data/StreamingAssets/Data/simGameConstants/SimGameConstants.json
The value originally is 0.1024 and is so low a refurbished mech sells for less than even 1 piece of the standard 3 required to construct it.
To 'fix' this insanity a found a good value to be to change it.
Set ShopSellModifier to 0.8024
If you have any other recommendations for game balance & a rewarding fun experience; feel free to add them here.
An example might be lowering recovery rates to make these parts less frequent or a slight increase to mission rewards seeing as the overwhelming numbers mean your constantly with mechs out of commission with months of downtime.
ps. I forgot to add what this modifier does which on the surface is simple, but could be otherwise OP.
I found that at my 0.8024 that a locust that is sold factory new at $2million is sold for almost $1.3million when built from scrap.
The parts cost like $250k each so I would suggest in game setting to cost 5 parts to rebuild a mech which would make sense based on main parts being body arms and legs and mean that while it's not really being that worthwhile to buy all 5 parts to make a mech & then immediately sell it; it is however well worth buying one or two parts to finish off a mech and sell it so you can afford monthly upkeep.
It might need tweaking a little lower like 0.4024 if you play on the easiest mode (3 parts to mech).
