how do i move a salvaged mech from storage as i cannot locate a means to fo it!

I assume you have three parts of the mech you salvaged. You cannot do anything with it ´while you only have 1 or 2 pieces (it say 1/3 or 2/3 in the storage tab in those cases).
First, you need to make room in your mech bays to move the new mech to. So unless you already have that, find a mech you are not using, select it and send that one to storage as well. It will automatically be stripped of all equipment while doing so.
After that you go to the storage tab in the mechbay, select what you want to make ready and find the button to do so (think it says "ready for combat". Your mech techs will work on it for a few days to reattach the equipment it was supposed to have and then can use it.

As I found out, you need to get all the pieces. Unlike the previous times where you had a damaged mech, here you need to obtain 3/3 pieces. You can get pieces on salvage or if the store has the model you can buy a piece. Once all pieces are together you get to see the mech, if you take it out of storage into the bay.
