I played it fine without a connection. Both the GoG and the Steam version.

Most of my gaming is with no connection at all, or a public VPN (which gets blocked by most gaming platforms) and I didn't have an issue. I can verify that no connection was needed for anything more than downloading the game files from GoG from the day of release.

If that's your review that says a connection is required, you really should have it removed or edited. It is tagged as the most helpful review on top and is probably causing a lot of people to avoid buying this game.

It seems Games Explorer may be causing the required connection, not the game.

As already pointed out, the internet requirement is only for the launcher, so that it can display news, content updates, new DLC information etc.

A lot of launchers do this sort of thing. If you want to have a fully offline experience, you should run the bsg.exe from the install folder, as directed above.

Also, if you have reviewed the game based on this observation, it would be much appreciated if you would revise your comments, as this may misinform new players.

Therefore, I'd call for either full refund AND apology, or (preferably) for a patch to remove such thing from the game.
Well now that we know better and that there's no actual DRM or internet connection required for anything, except maybe the game's own launcher, which is bypassable if it does cause an issue, you should probably edit your now very out of date review.

If not, maybe someone at GOG could be reached to throw in an edit to let people know it's been proven otherwise. A similar thing happened with X-Wing/TIE Fighter when one of the top reviews was noticably out of date and the things being complained about were altered/fixed.

I'd rather see the top reviews pertain to the game itself and not something misconstrued now that the truth is known.

I would love to. Right after we found out, I tried several times to take it back, but I was unable to find a way how - it seemed to me that the reviews are designed to be permanent (which makes sense to me). If you know how to do so, please, tell me, and I will gladly edit/remove it.

You need to go through Support and put in a ticket to try and get it changed.
