I am not sure if this is even possible to patch but having online play via GOG Galaxy would be awesome. Especially since Gamespy is no more.

We played a lot on this game back then. It has a direct IP option to connect to specifi host. It is the best option for online play, a must have one for every single multiplayer capable game. :D

Most of the modern games sadly does not support direct IP connection.

Most "modern gamers" aren't competent enough to port forward either. Old gamers might not have been too, but no one had routers back then (well was just the start of broadband anywa, so a few may have) so it was generally not needed.

Yes, just like that. Now I was forced to put a router for sharing the net connection, and not all games like this setup. Battle Realms is one amongst them. It not works even with port forward.
