kalsonic12: As Serpent or Wolf. I've been trying to use dedicated Cutting melee units to stop their lightning-bolt ramapge, but at best it results in a stalemate. The enemy was spamming Warlocks in general. Any ideas on how to counter this tactic?
I'm quite late on this, but newbies aside:
Warlock' takes:
125% from cutting damage
100% from piericng damage
100% from blunt damage
50% from explosive damage
25% from fire damage
25% from magical damage
And has HP of 400, which means even piercing and blunt damage, unless a ton, won't quickly kill him.
If we talk AI battles, then any cutting/piercing/blunt dealing unit will hurt warlocks a lot. "Decent" unitg, in my understanding, means a unit that deals fine damage to warlocks and resists their attacks. So search for the units with explosive/magical (melee) resistance.
Shaled berserkers for the Wolf are the common choice even online, because they fit the description perfectly. Although I'd advise to use a bunch of shaled diggers (with the damage upgrade) that annihliate units in seconds. Werewolves would work vs AI just fine too.
Canoneer from the Serpent Clan fits the description, they don't care about warlocks' range attacks and deal blunt damage, so...
While Swordsmen kill warlocks in 1v1, they are weak on hp, so there's a good chance they're gonna die from someone else while dealing with warlocks. You can pair them with horses (additional blunt AOE trample damage), but it's better to use Fan geishas on horses then.
Dragon... Well Dragon Warriors are alright if they are with healers. Samurais with Dragon Skin work too.
UPD: derp, I've just read your original message and saw that you meant battles against some newbie (who masses warlocks). Newbies, to me, are like AI, because they don't really do anything special. My tactics written here will work on them too. Just spam canoneers against those warlocks, or horses, and you're good (unless your enemy knows aboutt soul chill, then use mugs (swordsmen from the thieves guild)).
