I recently bought this game for the second time )Yes, I still own the old CD-Version) during the wintersale, hoping that this game finally runs on modern systems as promised.
Well - it does - kind of.
I am not able to make it run on my desktop pc in any playable way: the cursor becomes a blur during playing, leaving a trail of hands that obscure the graphics below. But it runs on my laptop pc (the far older and slower system). But: the sound in cinematic sequences is not working at all. That is no gamebreaker, but a big inconvenience, especially if you are able to choose missions and now lack the rpg-reason to do so.
The steps I had to do to make it run:
downlaod a sound.dll from an unknown source (hell yeah, do I like this!) ,overwrite the original one and change the setup (which is easily enough)
I really, really would prefer to buy a game from a trusted source (which promises to have the game ready for modern systems) and then simply start the game, maybe running it in compatibility mode or anything.
Downloading third party software should be out of the question (and i wont do it if it is more then a dll). I also would like to be able to play trhe game on my desktop pc - thats what I bought it for, playing games.
But, never mind: anyxone has a tip for me of how to make this game run on my desktop pc?
