Battle isle incubation crashes randomly when I select a save file to load, I get no error message, just that the program has stopped working. I am on a windows 8.1 laptop. I DO have a working CD drive so that is not the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same issues with an 8.1 laptop. There's a crude solution on this thread on GOG:

incubation_frequent_crashes_on_save_load

This seems to have worked for me so far too although I've not tried it too many times.
