Can anyone help,i have just downloaded the platinum edition and I am unable to play Battle isle 1 as I do not know the controls to play.I tried reading the manuals but its just code.I have tried all the manual read options to no avail.
Right - the following controls are based on keyboard movement, which I personally prefer - joystick movement is similar, but the mouse works slightly differently when selecting an option.

Player 1 (Left screen) uses the arrows and Space as an Action button, Player 2 uses DXCV (think a slightly off-position WASD) and Control as an Action button - I'll describe these as for Player 1.

Arrows to move the cursor - to do anything else, hold Space, press one of the following directions, then release the action button without releasing the direction:

UP - Either Move or Attack with the selected unit, depending on which mode you're in - Player 1 starts on Move Mode, Player 2 starts on Attack Mode and the modes alternate. (Attacks are always resolved BEFORE moves.)

If you select a unit to move or attack that you don't want to do anything with, just return the cursor over the unit (or any illegal space) and spam the Space bar until it gives up. (I've never quite got the hang of this one).

RIGHT - Brings up a complete level map - position the window with the arrows and press Space to return to the normal map.

DOWN - Brings up some battle statistics (if you like I'll go into these in a later post).

LEFT - Context sensitive - if you are over a building or transport unit, it will take you the contents of said building or transport.
In any other situation, LEFT will request switching modes, effectively ending your turn - press Space again to cancel this and F1 when both players have finished their turn.

While in a building or transport's contents, the same Action button selection method applies:

UP - During Move Mode, move a unit outside.

RIGHT - Return to the map.

DOWN - When inside a building (and sufficient energy is available), repair a unit.

LEFT - When inside a Factory only (they've got an F on them in the original) build a new unit (you'll need sufficient energy for this as well).

That should be enough to get you started - the Up and Left actions will probably be the most commonly used from the main screen and enough to get you started.

For a joystick, replace Arrows and Space with the joystick direction and button - the mouse is similar but it doesn't snap back to neutral when you stop moving the mouse (for fairly obvious reasons.) :)
sry my bad
