Hi,

tl;dr:

How to change Vids to German?

first of all... I am German and like my Games in English since German Voiceover is mostly Crap since the Budgets are small and the Voice Talents are mostly sub-par(t)-timers but in no way "talents".......with one expction. Battle Isle 3.
I know the story is not the best, the acting ......only nice-effort-level but please let me have my Nostalgia Googles.

Is there a way to simply change the Language Settings in this Build?
It seems that other language files are there, and even if not, I still own my phisical Platinum Ed. Copy of BI3 but I purchased it again at gog as it seems to work with Windows 7 and I am to noob to fiddle arround with Dosbox myself.

So any help is greatly appreciated....
same here - any helpfull comments?
I want to play bi 3 in german, but i havent any idee - how to

I still got the German version of Battle Isle , so I just replaced the english Vids by the German ones in the Install folder, but without an old German version of the game (wich I can't get to run otherwise on a newer PC btw) I don't see how this could be done. So let us hope GOG will bring out a german version of this Game sometime later
I know this thread is very old, but perhaps the things I figure out are useful for someone.

As mentioned earlier the videos are only available in English. But you're able to start the UI in German.

Step 1: Enable administrator rights for "<installation_directory>/SDI/SDI_1R.EXE". To do so right click the "SDI_1R.EXE" file, choose "Properties", go the the tab "Compatibility" and check "Run as administrator". This step is required because the .ini file for the game is located in the windows directory and require admin rights to be accessible by the game (Default e.g. "C:\Windows\SDI.ini". If you don't want to run the game with administrator rights you can alternatively copy the "<windows_directory>\SDI.ini" to "<user_dir>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows".

Step 2: Modify the existing links to "SDI_1R.EXE" (e.g. on Desktop "Battle Isle 3.lnk" or "<installation path>/Launch Battle Isle 3.lnk") due a right click, choose "Properties" -> Tab "Link" and add "/0" as parameter under "Target" e.g. `"<installation_directory>\SDI\SDI_1R.EXE" /0`. Feel free to create your own link to the executable. The game now should start with the German UI.

Step 3 (optional): Enable "Online Help/Hilfe" in the game options during a running session under the options menu of the game for a bit of extra help (you will see additional helpful popups).

Step 4 (optional): If you have a original copy of the German version you could copy everything from the from the "AVI" sub directory on both CDs to "<installation_directory>/SDI/DATA/AVI" (overwrite existing files) to get German videos, too.

Glad if would that help somebody.
