This is a general question for all the chess games, but do any of them have multiplayer? As in, can I play someone over the net?

Chessmaster 9000 does have online multiplayer using ubi.com but as I don't own the game I can't say if anyone actually still plays it.

Battle Chess has Hot Seat if I'm not mistaken but no, no online.

Technically, you can set up an online game in Battle Chess games. :) DOSBox can emulate a modem connection, which in turn is supported by Battle Chess and Chinese Chess (not sure about 4000, but I'm sure we did MP on that too(. Check out the support section for info on how to set up a modem game in the first two titles. :)
