Hello all
Just bought and installed Batman Arkham City GOTY.
Start program and get message
Searching for downloadable content
Shows for a couple of seconds and then disappears.
When game starts it is in a window labelled
Batman Arkham City (32-bit, DX9)
The window size is 1280*720, desktop resolution is 1920*1080
In the program options, as far as I can see, there is no way to
adjust the resolution.
I am also surprised that the program is 32-bit, not 64.
Can anyone advise ?

Intel Core i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz
16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 800MHz (11-11-11-28)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (ZOTAC International)
Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit
DirectX 12

TIA

This is a 32-bit game, I do not think there ever was a 64-bit version of it.

Yes, I believe that is the max. resolution. Game imo still looks great.

You can toggle full screen with alt-enter.

go to the game install location. there are atleast 2 exes. click the launcher, then options. it supports directx 11 features and 1920x1080. you have the same desktop gpu as me. you can enable physx. keep in mind arkham city doesn't like vsync. it's best to leave that off.
Thank you for your replies.
In the game installation folder there is only Launch Batman Arkham City GOTY
which is a shortcut to "E:\GOG Games\Batman Arkham City GOTY\Binaries\Win32\BatmanAC.exe"
Using the launcher or directly opening BatmanAC.exe give the same result, the only
settings I have are:
Adjust gameplay and brightness settings
Adjust volume and subtitles settings
View controls
Benchmark
None of these make any reference to resolution, vsync etc.
I have looked through all of the ini files and cannot see anything relating to
screen definition, DirectX or vsync.

Hmm, that's interesting. I'm playing it via Wine in Linux. I started the launcher and it says there it is set to 1920x1080. However, when I run the game and quit, it seems to have changed my screen resolution to 1280x720 and I have to change it back. I'm not sure what's going on there.

Still, the game looks great anyway, so I don't super-care. I played the whole thing through on the resolution it's currently set to and loved it.

If it's missing, check your antivirus for quarantine. I remember by antivirus used to do a false positive. Or reinstall. It also requires .net framework 3.5. You'll know if you have this because it'll either throw an error or work.

Wine - dont know much about linux but maybe check the ini files to make sure it has made the changes? It's unreal engine so has a bunch of ini files. Try windowed mode fullHD first to make sure it can change the resolution perhaps? I know windows 10 is really awkward when games don't match the desktop/native resolution

Edit, also, as far as i can tell 32/64 is a bit pointless because 32 os's recognise 4gb ram but an application can only use 2gb ram chunks. However it can use unlimited 2gb ram chunks. This is why when you see mods which increase the 2gb ram limit in older games, this is all they are doing. Also i was looking at arkham origins the other day, it is also just a 32bit game but can easily use 16gb ram. I think 32/64 is more for developers to make it easier for them. It does 't necessarily mean there are performance issues or worse then 64bit builds. :)

Thanks for the reply.
I found and ran bmlauncher and this did indeed allow me the options I was looking for.
I did all of the things, got the option menu to change the resolution, but when I pressed start, the game could not locate the start file (BatmanAC.exe)....help
