Gents, this is the message I get after downloading Banished onto my windows 10 computer. Any suggestions to get over this, please? Thanks in advance. :-)
Hi Grandadam,

Is the app called setup_banished_2.5.0.9 ? Where did you put it when downloading? How is your computer configured? With what anti-virus? How did you try launching it and what messages did you get?

I had no particular difficulty running it on my Windows 10 (twice; once on my desktop and again on a laptop). I have only one user id, which of course has full administrator privileges. I'd downloaded with a "Save as" to a folder I use for everything from GoG, and guess I ran it from File Explorer. Between Windows and my anti-virus, I seem to remember being asked two or even three times to confirm yes I really, really did want to let the setup do things to my system.

Many thanks for that help - it seems I can't "launch Banished" (and it is 2.5.0.9) but instead start it by going to Win32 then applications 32 and the game starts up. Bizarre but I am in and it looks good.
Again thanks for your assistance - I did save it into a dedicated Gog.com folder.

Do you have 32-bit Windows 10? If you do then that's the problem. The launcher is now foolishly 64-bit, but yeah the workaround is simple enough.
Gydion, I thought Windows 10 is just Windows 10 and it is our computers running it that are either 32-bit or 64-bit machines, but yes.

By the way, everybody, "setup_banished" is GOG's app to unpack the pieces of the game from the box and assemble them, as it were; and bizarrely GOG have their own numbers so 2.3.0.7 (which I started with) was the setup for Banished 1.0.4 as the developer calls it, and GOG's 2.5.0.9 gives us Banished 1.0.6. With 2.3.0.7/1.0.4 the Banished app was the game but with 2.5.0.9/1.0.6 it is a front-end launcher to chose between Win32 and Win64 flavours both of which have been installed.

I wonder whether the developer will fix the 32-bit launch problem in 1.0.7 which according to his website he is working on?
