Anyone ever tried creating a biodome within the game?

In other words, manage population at a steady number without running out of resources.

In my mind if we were to land on mars this would be a similar idea... we have to be able to manage all our resources without running out.

Without trading, the main bottleneck I would see is tools...

Thoughts?
Millions of years without tools? Don't rule that out (make sure to educate everybody). But what about tornados? When the last of the stone for rebuilding has been quarried, that'll be it.
Not played the game in a long while, but one of the problems in longterm games is to keep a stable population. Don't think it can be done due to how the interaction with housing and kids play out. Unless you keep building houses, the population will grow old and start dwindling, since couples can't have children unless in a house of their own. This process leads to a sinus curve of sorts, like in the population graph attached.

Tools and resources is another issue, especially if going for big villages. Play long enough, and you will run out. If you fill the map with enough population centres, getting enough firewood becomes a problem too.
