I have already made the mistake of purchasing a few new games that don't have manuals on gog and was looking here to see if this game had a manual.

As going forward I have one simple rule for gog game purchases, no manual = no sale.

I'm not expecting a printed manual, as this is a digital games distribution platform, instead I expect a pdf manual that I can refer to on my tablet while playing the game on my PC.

To me one of the big features of a purchased game over a pirated game is that you get an instruction manual.

On that note I am off to read the manual for SimCity 4 on my tablet in bed so I am ready to start playing that game over the weekend instead.

As an when this game is completed ready for release and the developers released the manual I will come back and purchase it. In the mean time there are plenty of other finished games with manuals to chose from on gog, we just need to read the description carefully and check the form to make sure we are going to get a manual with our purchase.

The game is quite complete. It simply does not come with a separate manual. This is not GOG's fault, as they cannot include what does not exist. In this case, the developer (note the singular form, here -- one person!) did not create a separate manual. He DID, however (as was noted earlier in the thread) include an easy-to-use help function -- basically, a bare-bones, "wiki"-style in-game manual -- that will give you basic information on all of the commands, structures, professions, and suchlike. But if a separate manual is an absolute must for you, then you may as well steer clear of most indie games (apart from some RPGs or retro-nostalgia titles).
OK it look like I have found what I was looking for here: http://guides.gamepressure.com/banished/

All importantly for me, as well as having the information its available as either and epub or pdf (even if I need to pay extra for the offline pdf version I can live with that.) So I can read the manual in my lunch break as I like to do when I buy new more complex games.

So the game can go on my wish list as a future purchase :-)

Now I just need to find some thing similar for Lichdom - Battlemage as I just cant work out how the magic upgrades or spell making works.

Ciris: Have you played the tutorial? They take you through everything (minus best survival strategies, but those you have to work out alone).
Whoa Whoa Whoa...

There's a tutorial???

I'm a huge fan of city building and survival games, but I had quite a hard time starting out in the game. I had no idea you had to tell the citizens to gather wood and stone and set jobs for builders. Banished is a pretty hardcore variant of both types of games and I LOVE IT!!

Also, keep in mind this game was developed by a single person. You can't gripe too much for the quality this game presents. <3

And furthermore, I'm a MAN. I don't need no stinking manual :D No offense intended. Just making a fonny
