Is there any way to set the game up such that if I click on something further away than right next to me, my guy will just walk all the way over to it and then do the interaction? Currently, what happens if I click on something right next to me, is I just interact with it, no problem. But, if it is not right next to me, I click, and my guy walks one, and only one, space towards what I clicked on. Then, he stops, and nothing further happens.

This is when I am out of combat, incidentally. If I want to go to the thing and interact with it, and it is 5 tiles away, I need to click, and then click, and then click, and then click, and then click. While making sure to move my mouse after every click or so, since the camera moves with me, so my mouse pointer is soon not actually hovering over the thing I want to interact with.

This feels awful. The control options do not appear to include any that help with this. Are there any creative solutions the community have discovered? Or, any mods?

The original Diablo, as soon as you first appear in town in a new game, you can see Griswold the Blacksmith near the edge of the screen, and if you click on him one (singular) time, your character will path over to him, flawlessly, AND talk to him. With one click.
Actually, I somewhat retract this. I discovered that right clicking somewhere will path me to it. It won't also interact, but it's close to what I was looking for.
