I cheated to spawn tomes of wisdom and charisma, but they are normal books and can't be put into the quick slots so I can use them. Solution?

Solution: don't cheat.

They're defined as the wrong item type, so they can't be put into your quickslots, even though the magic effects are intact from the first game. There's no way to fix it without editing the item file, though it may have been fixed in one of the various fixpacks floating around. If you have some sort of IE modding tool, it's super easy to fix them, you just need to change their item type. For Near Infinity, just change "category" from "book" to "misc," and you're done. Not sure about the other editors but I'm sure it's similar.
