Edit: Spoilers!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages

When you get to the underdark you'll eventually get to a point you need to find the blood of an elder race. There are three caverns where you can do this but when you get the quest you'll be on a timer. This means you'll likely only get to be able to do one area.

However, you can clear all three caverns before going to Ust Natha. If you do it this way you'll have all the time in the world, letting you clear each cavern at your own pace. You'll get the blood (and brains if I remember correctly) before getting the quest in Ust Natha. In fact, the Matron Mother would be very impressed that you just had these in your pocket!

Here's a Gamebanshee map in case you need some direction:

Let me know if I got anything wrong. Feel free to add to my post.

Edit: Changed "noble beast" to "elder race". Removed the timer thing. All edits suggested by Hickory.

It is not the blood of a "noble beast" you are after, it is the blood of one of the 'elder races'. The "strict timer" is actually three whole days, so there's plenty of time to complete the task once given.

NB: you really should prefix your header with a spoiler tag if you make posts like this.

Thanks for the reply! I apologize for those mistakes. I'll put a spoiler warning at the beginning of my post but I'm not sure how to change the title, if that's even possible.

Contact a Blue and ask them to change the thread title.
Alternatively, you can skip this whole segment of the game. All you need to do is attack the dragon that tries to help you. Once the dragon turns hostile, leave the lair and you can now leave the Underdark.

It turns out that the dragon doesn't need to even come on screen; just aim a lightning bold at the dragon's location and it should hopefully collide with the dragon. (This doesn't sound like part of an RPG any more.)

(It works this way because otherwise the game would become unwinnable and you would be stuck in the Underdark forever.)

I'm afraid I didn't (and still don't) get the joke. :(
