Let me explain.

I really am having all the problems Listed in this topic with both of these games.

Both Baldur's Gate Enhanced edition and Baldur's gate II enhanced edition require an entire breakdown of the entire games interface and mechanics.

The how to play section In BGEE only gives suggestions, but does not actually explain how to do a single thing. It doesn't explain how to even equip a melee weapon never mind attack with it. The same with the spells. It does not explain how to do a single usable piece of actual play information.

None of the icons are explained as to what they are either, so when I'm told to open my inventory by clicking the backpack icon, and then I'm never shown what the backpack icon even looks like then yes I give up and do not bother. For those of you that want to say that's dumb I'm not here to debate anything the fact is this is a tutorial and that is part of it trying to say use common sense or didn't you try I'm not going to talk to you. This is a tutorial not a guessing game if something in a tutorial says open a screen the it is required to complete the instruction on every step right down to the saying THIS IS WHAT THE BACKPACK ICON LOOKS LIKE,

IN BG II EE the first room is impossible to leave, you're dumped into this room with locked cages and doors and 2 rooms contain bats that will kill you if the door is opened. there is no defense against these bats so don't bother opening the doors otherwise you will just be running in circles trying to avoid them. The game should not be having enemies in an area when it hasn't even gone over any possible way to defend yourself, and or attack.

The camera also gets stuck stationary and can no longer be moved (I'm guessing this happens in combat) but I cannot see my character or if anything is attacking it. and my character has died from this because I'm getting attacked by bats.

There is no direction no information about what has to be done. or anything..Just wandering around a room with 2 doors that if opened, you get attacked and die.

There is a huge difference between having a steep learning curve and not even having one at all. Neither of these games even have any type of learning curve and neither one has any actual usable instructions. It doesn't even explain if you have any weapons or spells and how to go about equipping them.

Both of these games are a total mess. and need a massive overhaul of detailed instructions that go over every step on using everything in the interface. I mean this game doesn't even have a breakdown of what any of the icons are. and without any of that the game cannot be played.

You cannot drop a player in a room a=then leave them with no information that breaks anything down on how talking is even done. This is a tutorial, not a guessing game so yes all that information MUST be in these areas. Otherwise the game is a loss and cannot be played.

Here is a video for Baldur's gate II Enhanced edition that I had someone make to show what happens to someone who knows nothing about these games, attempts to play it for the first time (The video is time stamped) but it shows just how badly put together BG II EE really is.

I have enclosed an image of the icons and what they are on the keyboard: https://imgur.com/a/Rllf2ID

You should try doing a single playthrough at the lowest difficulty. When you feel like you have a better idea of how the game works, you can make your next playthrough at normal. You can even import the character from the first run. If you are playing BG1 you will get most of your items at the start of new game +. You lose your stuff in BG2's new game +, but you keep all your stats and proficiencies.

You should try your first run with either a pure class fighter, or a paladin. Give them high constitution and strength scores. You are going to want to keep your tougher characters at the front of your party formation. This is because they will be the first to be hit in an encounter. When combat starts, you need to pause. It will pause automatically if you activate the "pause when enemy sighted" in the game options; which I highly recommend you do. I would recommend you turn the AI off. It is the lantern button. If you keep it on your party will do all sorts of things you don't want them to.

Now for your party composition. Your party should have 2 melee - preferably with shields. This should be a fighter, paladin, ranger, or druid. Jaheira is great, and her stats make her roles very malleable. Khalid can go either melee or ranged. He comes with a shield and a bow, so assign him a role at your convenience. You should also have two characters who are ranged. They should wield a bow or crossbow. The damage output for slings and darts are a little too low IMO (better suited for mages when they can't cast anything). Throwing axes and knives have decent damage, but I don't recommend those either. They weigh too much to carry in significant quantities. You will get Imoen early in BG1, and Yoshimo/Nalia in BG2. Not only should you have them as ranged, but they are also thieves (as in the class). This is important because you will need to detect traps when you are in dungeons.

You will want at least one arcane caster. This will be either a wizard or a sorcerer. Bards can also cast arcane spells, but I don't recommend them being your only arcane caster on your first playtrhough. You will also want a divine caster. This will be a cleric or a druid. Divine casters have great buff spells, and they can also heal. At higher levels they can resurrect party members. Rangers and paladins have divine spells, but their spell selection is too limited for them to be your only divine caster.

When you start a fight, there is a general priority on who you should target. The first should be arcane casters, then divine casters, then ranged, then melee.

Before you play, I highly recommend these auto-pause options...pause when:

1) Enemy sighted.

2) Trap detected. This is especially important so your thief doesn't walk in to the trap. When the game pauses for this reason, have your thief move a few steps back, then have him or her disarm it.

3) Completed spellcasting. This is important so your mages don't wander off, stand idly by, or engage in melee combat.

4) Target destroyed. If AI is turned off your character would just stand there doing nothing. If it is on he or she will probably wander off, or attack a target that you don't want to fight yet.

5) Party member wounded. When this happens take the wounded character out of combat. Use potions/spells to heal him or her.

You can access your inventory with the "I" key. When you start BG2 there is a room to the north with a golem in it. The table and chest has some gear. The painting is also locked and trapped. Have Imoen disable both to get what's inside.

The last thing i can think of is to only use fear and confusion spells in doors. Do not chase targets, especially if you are in the wilderness. You can attract more enemies, or walk in to traps. That's all I can think of for now. If you have any other questions let me know. I'm pretty tired. I'm going to ask that you forgive anything I left out, or got wrong.
There's a TUTORIAL section in BGEE though...?

amazingchestahead: There's a TUTORIAL section in BGEE though...?
I would need to check again, but I think the tutorial section from BG2 has been added to BG:EE.
That’s one of the few mistakes of the Enhanced Edition in my opinion: BG1 already had a full tutorial in Candlekeep that covered all the basics, and adding an external one only helps to hide it.
^ True. Apparently they cut (removed) the tutorial from BG2 and attached it to BG instead in the EE games (idk if the Tutorial was ever included in an old version of BG2EE). It is BG2 that is more in need of a Tutorial because BG already has the prologue which explains all the basics very well. So basically you have a BGEE that has two Tutorials while BG2EE has none. That is pretty dumb.

Well shit, if only they'd included...I dunno, a manual or something.

While I appreciate what you posted, the fact is what you posted requires a massive detailed instruction on how to do it.
Here are some videos I had someone make. This is exactly what happens to a player who knows nothing about this game and shows a player is clueless he even touches on things even I didn't see was a problem but now I do because they were pointed out.

This is just for BG EE:

Every single one of these are a major problem and prevents either game from being played.

Nah, he's just drumming up Youtube video hits. Most of his complaints are things a braindead monkey could figure out just by actually clicking on some things.

Just ignore trolls such as Bookwyrm627. People like him/her have their tongue so far up the devs ass, they can taste their breakfast. They also never even bother to go through any of what someone posts and then tries dictating what they never saw is all about.

People like Bookwyrm627 completely disregard any and all problems anyone has and go out of their way to try and interfere with anyone trying to get help. They will always find some angle to try and argue against despite what is explained cannot be argued against. They argue using opinion not facts.

Their hideous excuse for an attitude in their mind works like this:
Someone joins a math class to learn math, but yet the teacher doesn't need to explain a single thing because it's the students responsibility to just write random numbers down and guess despite not having any coherent baseline to work with, and if you point that out, you're dumb and you shouldn't' be in the class because the teacher isn't required to do a damn thing to explain anything.

Just ignore these brain dead monkey's as they are trolls and never contribute a single useful thing to any discussion. Everything mentioned is a major problem and exist.

Are either of you going to actually help, or just continue being total jackasses?

I already did. RTFM.

If you need more detailed help, then I'll try "Read Page 17". If that doesn't help solve some of the problems you listed, then you're simply too dumb for me to be able to effectively communicate with you, and you aren't nearly smart enough to navigate this game.

Simply put: you're bitching about things that you should be able to figure out with the slightest bit of effort on your part. If you can't figure out what a backpack looks like and you can't be bothered to look at the support material that was included with the purchase of the game, then just try clicking some of the buttons and see what happens. Between the content of your complaints, the way the complaints are expressed, the self-contradictory nature of several of your comments, and how you're spamming youtube links from the same guy, I conclude your questions aren't actual questions. You're trolling for views and/or reactions, so you don't deserve a serious response.

This isn't school so quit telling people who ask for help they need to do schoolwork. Which means you can piss off with RTFM comment. Devs made the game, and they'll be explain it. I've also reported your replies as spam and trolling.

Since you have zero intention of helping, and just want to provoke people then you're too stupid for anyone to bother paying attention to you anymore.

I'm just going to block you here on the forum and so should everyone else because no one should be subjected to any more of your opinionated asshat comments!

I give you a grade of 'D' for your effort. It was uninspired and entirely lacking in wit. It only rose to a D because you cribbed from the comments of those who came before you. After all, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" and I'm not entirely immune to flattery.
