Hello everyone!

So i downloaded BG2 a few days ago, along with a few recommended mods. I'm enjoying it so far but i have a few technical issues.

It seems like whenever anything is happening on-screen such as a fight, or I'm holding TAB, there is significant frame-rate loss. I set the frame rate to 60 FPS in the config to no avail.

I also can't use the 3d accelerator option for some reason...I'd think that my vid card could handle it (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M)

Im using an ASUS G74SX-BST6 laptop, all drivers are updated.

This is my first time playing BG2 and i really want to complete it, but this is really taking the enjoyment down a notch :(

There are some serious problems with nVidia cards and the infinity engine games.

Setting the fps to 60 only makes the game run faster (30fps is normal speed)
You could try to run this fix: click here.

Also, try turning off any anti-virus or programs like that, just to be sure they're not responsible for your slowdowns.

Unfortunately i don't see anything in that forum really related to the issue i'm having. After searching for a while, i dont really see any solutions anywhere....

The problem is, I can't enable 3d acceleration. If i do, and run the test, the boxes start flashing, indicating that 3d acceleration wont work properly. if i start the game up anyway, it just flashes like my refresh rate is off. i've tried the refresh rate at 30 and 60, both with the same issue.

im guessing this is a known issue with the new nvidia cards but is there no way to fix this?
There are some people who had similar problems, that seem to have fixed them in a variety of ways. In this http://www.gog.com/en/forum/baldur_s_gate/bg2_frame_rate_problems_on_windows_7 thread there are several solutions that have worked for others.

One solution that seemed to work for several people was;

I've been having framerate issues with the BG2 Infinity Engine (BG1TuTu,BG2:SoA) too.
Simply enough, make sure the color depth is on 32 and ALL the BLT options are turned off (In-game Graphics options).
I've Transparent Shadows turned on, and this works like a charm.
Hope i helped

Do you have Anti-Aliasing enabled in the nVidia control panel? If so, that could perhaps be the cause of the flashing.
Thanks for the replies guys!

Unfortunately, I've tried these methods and it still isn't working.

It also seems that I can't change my frame rate back to 30 fps for some reason. it says 30 in the config and in the ini file...

This is pretty discouraging =/ I've always heard such great things about BG2, and now that i finally have time to play it, its almost too glitchy :(
