I installed the BiG World Project for BG 1 and 2. It's my first time playing BG but i'm familiar with DnD rules. Theres multiple options for how much you want the project to add to your game, i chose recommended which i thought would improve the game without imbalancing things or adding too much stuff. Unbeknownst to me Dark Side of the Sword Coast was installed which adds some new quests and monsters and npcs which i'm okay with but what i'm not cool with is the new items and spells which are integrated into the game, i would be okay if this stuff was in a separate, clearly defined area/quest so i could just ignore it but, for instance, off one of the bounty hunter parties i get a set of ebon full plate+1 and crystal armor and all kinds of crazy loot, and mages are given healing spells!.

Is there any way i could uninstall the mod without buggering up my save game, and if i cant would it be wise to reinstall and restart? (I've just finished nashkel mines and firewine ruins and am at level 5

thnx

Well if this is your first time playing BG1 then I would've just gone without mods the first time around. At most I would use BG TuTu. I'm not familiar with the Big World Project. I would say if your character, itself, hasn't been modded then you could probably just uninstall those components. But honestly, I would do that first, and then make an extra copy of your save game and put it somewhere else like your desktop and then reinstall the game. Afterwards, put your saved game back into the save folder and you should be all set. This is all I use for my setup:

-Baldur's Gate TuTu
-Degreenifier
-TuTu Hotfix
-NPC Banter Pack
-BG2 Tweak Pack

Like I said, I would go with a bare-bones setup for your first time through. Just my opinion of course. Good luck and have fun.
As even de-installing a single component of a mod, let alone de-installing a mega-mod, has a chance of corrupting an install in an ongoing game, I doubt if de-installing DSOTSC mid-game will allow you to continue without running into severe bugs. So the wise thing to do would be to start afresh, if you don't like DSOTSC. That's what I did when I found out about the overpowered items. It's a pity they put in the recommended install.

As a general advice, it's recommended, like the above poster said, to play the game with no or very few mods the first time. Both to appreciate the game as it was developed (maybe even without Tutu). If you want to adds mods and do that after you've played an unmodded game, you'll know what the mods do. Playing BWP straight away, you don't even know what's mod and what's not, in the experience you encounter.

Thanks a lot for your opinions, I'm gonna restart and reinstall. I'm gonna use BWP but not install anything that adds any new areas, spells, npcs, quests, creatures, loot unless it's just something like unfinished business or more banter.

Cheers
