Hello, hopefully someone will be able to enlighten me.

This is my situation: I've got a laptop running Windows 7 SP1 in one room, and a PC running Windows XP SP3 in another room. Both are connected to a Linksys router via ethernet. I know the IP addresses of both.

However, when I create a game on either computer and enter the IP address (with the TCP/IP option) of the other, I get a "cannot connect" message. Could someone please help?

Turn off the firewalls on both systems or add exceptions for Balders Gate. The Windows 7 Firewall is enabled for sure.
Hey, sorry for the late response. My laptop wouldn't let me post for some reason.

Well, I tried disabling the firewalls on both machines, but the game still wouldn't connect.

Any other suggestions?

- Try forwarding ports in your router config, like this:
http://portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/Baldurs_Gate_I_and_II/Baldurs_Gate_I_and_IIindex.htm
(Find your router on the list.)
Baldurs Gate I and II games need 2300-2400, 6073 ports open, both for TCP and UDP.

- Try using Hamachi program to create private network for BG.

That allowed us to connect, but then we ran into another problem. I created a game, and my friend joined it - but he couldn't move his character at all. He could move the view-window and read signs, but couldn't actually move his character. It was very weird.

Thanks for the port forwarding tip, though.

EDIT: Never mind, the movement problem was...human error. Thanks for the help!
