Greetings. I just purchased Baldur's Gate 2 and upon attempting to install it, I get a box (with a red x) saying the set up files are corrupt and to download again.

I have no clue what to do (downloading again doesn't make much since because my issue IS with downloading it (the first files).

Obviously I am not very computer savvy when it comes to technical problems. ANY helpe would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

You have to download all three files first, and make sure they are in the same folder before trying to run the setup. The names of the three files should be

setup_baldurs_gate_2.exe
setup_baldurs_gate_2-1.bin
setup_baldurs_gate_2-2.bin

Yes...that is what I am trying to do; however, when attempting to install the first one, it says it is corrupt....
Hi,
I know how you feel, and it's a bitch when this happens (especially when there are several
.bin files).

Instead of manually comparing hash values I suggest you use the 'GOG Downloader' when you are downloading larger games (with several .bin files).
Among the features of the downloader is a TCP like checksum which checks every so often if
any of the data is corrupted (if it is, only the corruptet parts are redownloaded).

You can find the GOG Downloader under My account ~> My Games and under the Downloads
tab of the game you wish to download (above the 'additional content').

Hope this helps.

I try to use the GOG Downloader; however it stays in limbo. It will not initiate at all (and I've waited almost 24 hours...still nothing). I just redownloaded the original Baldur's Gate a few nights ago with no problems....
Have you tried to flush the dns cache?
Start ~> cmd ~> ipconfig /flushdns

You might aswell use:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
to ask for a new IP adress while you are at it.

And of course make sure that the firewall isn't blocking the port that the
GOG Downloader tries to use :).

I know this is an old thread but rather then make a new one and clutter up the place, I'll add this here for the Google people.

I was having the above problem and sure enough there wasn't a specific rule on my windows 8 firewall to allow the installer, this hadn't been a problem before but I assume the size of the download and two seperate files contributed to the FUBAR situation.

So yes Tl;Dr

check your firewall, make a specific rule - renew your ipconfig. It's been special.
My apologies on adding on, but having a similar issue - the GOG downloader not initializing at all... so I've downloaded the files manually, all located in the same folder. The .exe file cannot find the two .bin files even though they are all together.

I have allowed all through my windows 8 firewall, disabled my malware/antivirus, made sure no apps are set to open .bin files, tried the ipconfig steps listed above, but still no joy.

Any hope or thoughts?
