Playing BG2 EE for the first time, having played the original many times over. half way through chapter 2 the quicksave hotkey and autosave have stopped working saying not enough disk space. i can still save in the quicksave slot though the options so not sure what is happening.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

You haven't reported the actual remaining disk space, is there a lack? (Windows can have problems when the free portion is less than a tenth of the total disk volume, for example; don't forget that the OS is using swap files, too, so total disk space can vary quite a bit.)

If the disk is a solid state, they are smaller and fail sooner (swap file wear & tear, perhaps?) than mechanical ones. (Hopefully it isn't failing, but low probability ǂ zero probability. :)
There was something about temp/tempsave dirs turning into files or something like that, can't recall... or maybe that was classic. Anyway, check they are dirs and not files.

There's 793GB on the disk so can't see that being the issue?

Thanks for the suggestion but it's beyond my technical knowledge.

That's the issue if my memory serves me correctly. There was a bug that was causing that error message for disks that are beyond 1TBs?I am not sure but you can try installing the game to a smaller size partition (if you have one) and see if that solves the problem.
I'm having this same issue. Does anyone have a solution for this?

Yeah, the address (in the hard disc) is too big for the (old) index software. (Another example was older (pre-32bit) versions of Windows could not access more than 2GB of RAM.)
If this is the reason, you could buy a smaller disc to install (on your network); otherwise partitioning your drive will work. (This can be done without damaging any data already on the disc.) If you don't know how to partition, you'll have to hire someone to create a small partition for the drive. (It's easy, but it'd be a brave tech support that would tell someone how to do it over a discontinuous medium, like a forum.)
Cue brave tech support …

In my case I don't think this is the issue. It used to work on the current disk I'm using. I didn't play for about a month or two then came back and now I can't use quick save.

I'm not sure if it was something I did to my computer or if maybe an update to the game cause the issue or maybe even a combination of both.

Anyway if anyone has any other ideas on how to fix this please let me know. It's getting very frustrating.

One other thing is that both BGEE and IWDEE are working just fine.

Found a guide and partitioned the drive roughly 500gb each but still not working

Interestingly i have tweaks anthology installed on the machine which has problems, and no mods on another machine, also 1TB which has no issues.

I have the same problem ! I haven't played for half a year. I stopped after I finished SoA and now I wanted to continue with ToB. I have the exact same error message when I try to quick save. Also the quick load does not work either / I have older qick saves that the game wont load with the quick load/. The problem seems to be the new big update the game had in july. Man I wish I had autoupdates turned off - this studio is just notorious with all the bugs they cause in games after updates. The only suggestions I found for a fix are to either rename your save folder and let the game remake it or to add the game in your antivirus program if you have one active - both did not work for me sadly :(.

Update: I tried to downgrade the game to the previous patch - I never knew there was such option on GoG to see if I can revert the quick save problem. Now when I try to quick save on the old version I get the message that a quick save has been made but the file does not exist/ the quick save does not make a file/ - it is so weird. The quick load still does not work. It almost seems like some sort of a permission access problem but only for the quick save/load which does not make sense

Update 2 - I found a solution !!! - It seems the "Personalize Automatic Save Names" component from the Tweaks Anthology is the reason for my quick save problems. I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it again and now everything works properly. I did that on the previous patch version 2.3.67.3(A) !!!

Great find. That worked for me. Now I can quicksave again. WooHoo. Much better way to play.
Thank you Kaiten for restoring my sanity!

Hello !!
I have the same problem too, but i don't really understand your solution.
I don't find something called the Personalize Automatic Save Names.
Can you help me please ?

Thanks!

Deathnounours: I don't find something called the Personalize Automatic Save Names.
It's a component of the Tweaks Anthology mod. If you don't have that installed yyour problem is not caused by the same thing.
