Hello everyone,

hopefully someone can help me. I've started playing Baldur's Gate I with GoJays modes installed. Now, I've started playing on one PC with Windows 7 and I've continued playing on another (Windows 10). I've transfered save files from save folder located inside my installation folder (everything installed under C:/GOG Games/Baldur's Gate II).

On Windows 10, I get all characters, their inventories and saved locations. However, my maps are again covered with fog of war and it seems I'm missing the text in journal, rumors screen and quest lists.

I will also say that save has been made after Chapter 1 was done, the mere beginning of Chapter 2 when some bad guys attack good guys. (don't want to spoil).

Can you help me with this problem?
You need a copy of the override folder, too.

Oh!

OK, let me check it out :)

Do I need to copy override folder every time when I sync or just once?
Hard to say. You definitely need one every time you install a different mod. And, because the references in dialog.tlk and chitin.key are sequential, the mods need to be installed in the exact same order. If you want to avoid the problem, you can create a save folder of some type on the new machine, put backup copies of dialog.* and chitin.key in it, then overwrite those files from the source machine.

Sounds like a lot of job. :) My uber slow USB is slowly transferring 5000+ files of override, but the interesting thing I've learned is this: I've loaded the save file on old Win7 that starts immediately on chapter II. Hitting J reveals I can't see any done quests text. I only get journal. I didn't come to any tavern to check the rumors page. Also, fog of war is back on. Could it be that the game's natural state is to put the fog of war back on whenever you cross chapters or exit and reenter areas?
Transferring installation files from one operating system to another is your problem. You would have less (read zero) problems, and it would be far quicker than transferring via your slow USB, if you just installed the game and the same mods, in the same order, on the Windows 10 machine. It always baffles me why people think copying files is better, or faster, than re-installing.

Did you even take time to read my post? I've installed on two machines, modded in the same order on two machines and now I'm asking about certain game mechanics and save transfer. God...

Oh yes, I read your post. Nowhere did you say that you installed the same game and the same mods on both machines. What you *did* say was that you "transfered save files from save folder located inside my installation folder", and "My uber slow USB is slowly transferring 5000+ files of override". Now I don't know about you, but not being psychic, that means only one thing to me -- if your installations were identical, why would you need to transfer override? Duh!

Duh :D Because the guy above said I need to transfer that and save file to run the save file :D I thought it's a common sense I've installed it on two machines, not copy pasted installation :D

I'm not interested in what anybody else said. I replied to *you*, not to some third party. Duh!

Duh, you're right. I should be more specific! However, the problem persists. I've installed GoJays mods in order they've been written here: https://www.gog.com/news/enhance_the_gameplay_in_your_edition_of_baldurs_gate_from_gogcom

I did clean reinstall, clean modding and started clean new game, just to get the same error - when I enter Chapter 2, text on rumors and quests is missing and FOW returns to places that have been explored. I can't find if this is by map design, but it's suspiciously strange, therefore, complete uninstall and I'll start with vanilla Baldur's Gate. Thank you!

Then your installation is corrupt. If you are going by that list, that means you are using BGT. You must be aware of one very important fact: to install BGT you *must* have a completely virgin copy of BG1, and that means NO fixes, NO mods, NO tweaks... completely and utterly virgin BG1 BEFORE you install BGT.
