What are the recommended fan bugfix patches for Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 and their expansions? I've heard of Baldurdash and Dudleyfix for BG1 & TotSC, but are there any others? I'm only interested in the absolute needed bugfixes, no mods like Tutu/BGT or any of that stuff. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Not sure there's really any need for bug fixes.

I've never had any particular problems that I can recall.
See this thread. I believe it has the information you are looking for.

There are a lot of mods available. Ultimately, it comes down to your tastes.

I'm reading that the BG 2 fixpack is incompatible with BG 2 Baldurdash, but what about the BG 1 version of Bladurdash? Like if I were to import my character from BG 1 that used Baldurdash or no fan patches into BG 2 that only used the fixpack, would that cause problems?

No problems importing character from BG1 w/ Baldurdash to BG2 w/ G3 fixpack.

Personally, I'd recommend Tutu for BG1, which will convert BG1 to BG2 engine, and fix many errors in the process, and the G3 BG2 fixpack for BG2.

EDiT: you'll only run into errors when you're installing mods that directly modify the class of the character you're using, and those mods are not consistent across BG1/BG2 installations. Generally, bugfixes are a lot of boring things hiding in the scripts, spell effects, random non-joinable NPC qualities, and quest integrities.

What about the Bladur's Gate Trilogy mod that combines all the games into one continuous game and converts BG1 to the BG2 engine? How stable and bug free is that one? I'm starting to consider using it instead.

I don't like BGT, tried it, haven't since some time ago, so I can't say how bug-free it is now. Personally, I prefer BGtutu because I just don't like combining the two games into one. I've always preferred having the two stories told/played separately. I can tell you that Tutu is very robust. I'm sure if you head over to spellhold studios they'll also tell you that BGT is just as robust.

Comes down to personal preference.

Yeah, I went through the 30+ minutes of installing all of BGT last night only to find out in the read me file that it introduces a few new and rather nasty bugs (crashes and corrupt save files in one area). Tutu seems to have similar bugs from what i've read. I guess i'll just stick with the basic patches suggested in the "BG1 conservative mod guide" thread on gog. I prefer a more "purist" playthrough anyways.
Thanks.

???

Beregost crash/save corrupt is fixed in most recent BGT, and can be applied to BGtutu using one of the mod packs at G3. Anyway, FWIW the number of crashes I've had in Tutu is fewer than my number of playthroughs.

If there are more recent complaints cropping up, I wonder if they're originating from win7 and/or installing to protected directories.
