Although this is related to my other post about the mysterious power of the alt key, I thought I would start a separate one since this is a slightly different issue. I've been trying different things to improve my BG2 performance: turning hardware acceleration on and off, fiddling with resolution, turning of direct draw as suggested in some forums. Nothing seems to make much difference. One thing I did discover is that if I increase my character's movement speed in shadow keeper, then the movement at least runs fast, although the combat animations are unchanged. This further puzzles me. Clearly aspects of the game can run fast on my computer. For some reason, though, if I increase the frame rate in the config tool nothing happens. I can put the frame rate up to 60 and the character still moves and attacks at exactly the same slow speed (unless I press the alt key -regarding this see my other post). My question is: does anyone know why the changing the frame rate in the config tool doesn't work? This is really frustrating since I would really like to start playing this game, but I find it very hard to get immersed in the combat when my characters' attack animations look like they are lazily swatting at flies rather than fighting for their lives.
