Apparently I want to enjoy the full experience of the game like when my i watched my dad play this game, but when i just got it I'm not getting any of the tavern music and says I need an EAX card. Can someone help a guy out?

EAX only adds echo/reverb effects in dungeons and such. It does not add any new sound or music, only filters what is already there. You can play without it just fine and not really be missing much. (In fact, it was so badly implemented back in the day - making voices hard to hear, lots of people turned it off anyway)

I'm not sure why you would not be hearing tavern music. Someone else here mentioned that with no idea why. It should be noted in BG2 (maybe BG1 too), music does not play continuously, only every so often.
