Big fan of the BG2 soundtrack. Also enjoy BG1, IWD1+2, PS:T, Fallout 1+2, etc. Lately the theme from Waukeen's Promenade has been a steady repeat on my playlist. What genre would this be classified under? Any similar song/artist recommendations?
I don't know about that, but I do know that you can sing "Waukeen's Promenade" to the tune of "Feliz Navidad." Try it.
LOL. Thanks..

On a side note, Amkethram from the Throne of Bhaal expansion seems to contain similar influences..

It sounds quite eastern judging by the drum rhythm and the first melody. Is that the part that you like or the later more orchestral parts?
Edit1: ah I checked out your second link. You might try the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time soundtrack

great link Leopold, i've been looking for medieval music to listen to while playing Europa Universalis 3, and this fits perfectly. Reminds me of Mount and Blade.

Basically that's classical/traditional arabic/oriental music done in a movie soudtrack kind of style.
Not sure which would be the starting point and which the influence.

See here for the origins, plenty of samples in there:
