I think I know the answer to this question already, but just in case, is there any way to reorder a party that includes NPC characters in multiplayer, so that it doesn't have to be done every single time the game is loaded?

You cannot re-order NPCs, but you can re-order other party members. Export each of the characters and when you start multiplayer delete them, then re-import them in the order you want.
