So I just got BG from Amazon today under the "used-mint" conditions for 'bout 8 bucks. It had everything and I was satisfied. I installed Disc 1 and went on playing. But when I got to your first fighting tutorial (where a dude summons illusions and whatnot) and when I clicked on one of my party's faces (on the right side of the screen) it would freeze. And when I Crtl + Esc, this message would show up:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error.

Progam C:\users\Verden\documents\Baldur's Gate\BGMain.exe

This applicate has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Please contact your blah blah blah...

Then I tried it again, and when I clicked on another party member's face, it once again froze. Then I tried AGAIN, this time, without clicking on a member's face. And when I clicked on "yes, I've had enough training, please teleport me" or something, it would freeze AGAIN and show the same message. The disc is in perfect condition, I have no idea what's going on. T^T
It could be a corrupted file during the installation. You might want to re-install and patch and see if that fixes it.
