Recently dusted of my copy of BG and started playing again.

I've just dual classed Imoen to be a Mage/Thief and seem to have lost her Theif skills :(

Is this normal? As it seem she is now only a Mage.

Yes, this is normal.
Dual-classing is different from multi-classing. When you dual class you temporarily lose all the abilities of your old class untill your level in the new class exceeds the level of the old one.
Sp if Imoen was a level 5 Thief when dual-classing her, she'll get back her thief skills when reaching level 6 Mage.

Yep, it's normal. When you dual-class a character, they'll lose the abilities of their first class until the second class is at least one level higher. (ie., if you dual a character at level 6 , they'll regain the abilities of the first class when they hit level 7 in the second class.)
