ok so I got back into Baldur's gate and actually doing much better than I ever did which is awesome, I'm in the mines right now with me, Imoen, Khalid, Jaheira and Minsc. Now i'm going through the mines pretty slowly taking my time and of course when one of my characters is close to dieing I leave go to the inn and come back. As I was heading back to the mines with a fresh party, MInsc spoke and said something along the lines of "hurry up back to the mines if you don't go now you are a coward". Now is that just giving you a reminder of what to do to continue the story and i'm and still allowed to take my time or is he going to turn on me if I don't hurry the hell up? I would like to know because i don't want to be rushed when i'm playing rpg's, especially by the game itself.

Thanks very much.

Thats Minsc's encouraging thought, but you might want to check out Minsc's other affair*.
The mines could be checked up later..when ever you want!.

there are no time limits on the main plot but some npcs have some restrictions on their personal quests (usually 10 days i believe) and if you fail to complete the quest in set time the npc in question will leave your party, my recommendation is to complete the npc quest as soon as you get him/her in your party and continue with other stuff afterwards.

yes, if i'm not mistaken you have 10 days so you need to hurry up and depending on your location you might not even get to her in time if you are currently in the mines. if this is the case you might have to load an earlier save or it might be possible to tweak some variables manually.........or just say byebye to minsc and get a new npc, up to you ;)
no i'm actually on the way right now, i was on day 16 in the mines but I loaded a earlier save thankfully.

thanks I'll go to the stronghold as soon as possible.
a little update on my knoll stronghold situation, good news i got their and in time it seems and minsc is still with me thank god and the enemys are not giving me too much of a hard time. however I do have to vent some of my frustration with the gnoll stronghold. Who the hell designed this place? it is a huge mess of confusion. and don't even get me started on the narrow staircases. and I can't even find the person who needs help. she could be dead for all I know.
Dynaheir is in one of the pits (right one) up in the stronghold. If you left her there Minsc might (and probably will) leave you.
When you enter the area, the little movie shows you where she is.
ok I found her and headed back to the nearest inn thank you guys very much.
You do know it's not necessary to go to an inn in order to rest? It's OK to rest outside of towns and in dungeons, too. If your party has injured members, any available healing spells will even be auto-cast when hitting the rest button (though only if the rest is not interrupted, which is weird, causality-wise). Just remeber to save before attempting to rest in case the rest gets interrupted.

YMMV may vary depending on mods, I've only played the Tutu flavour of BG1.

I know I was just heading to the inn to save the game. Resting was actually how I got through the stronghold so easily.
Time for a where I am status update. Finished the mines finally and finished chapter 3 and am on chapter 4. Headed back to Nashkel and had another dumbass assassin (wearing black) try to kill me but I kicked his ass with next to no troubles. rested at the inn and saved in Nashkel. Things are going really well and i'm pretty confortable with my party.
