Hello!

What happens if you kill the group of Cowled Wizards that fight you when you cast a spell in public? I tried doing this myself but I keep dying. Do they just keep coming?

I tried this in Waukeen's Promenade and there was a guard nearby. When the Cowled thugs attacked me, the guard decided to help me out.

From what I understand, eventually, you will be attacked by high-ranking Cowled Wizards who can cast powerful spells such as Time Stop. Not too surprisingly, they sometimes drop nice scrolls.

Then, they will leave you alone.

It can be useful to cast spells such as Melf's Minute Meteors while indoors (where the Cowled Wizards won't come) before you cast a spell and start the real fight.

(If you just want to see what happens for yourself, just cheat yourself a killsw01 and use it to trivialize the encounters; just don't save after doing so unless you want to remove all challenge from the game.)

Thanks for the reply! Also, do you lose rep for killing Cowled Wizards? If I walk into the big building in the government district, will the wizards there attack me?
I went through a game without paying the cowled wizards, and they just kept coming IF you use arcane magic in Athkatla. They only stopped *after* you've freed Imoen (or chapter 6). Nobody will attack you by default, meaning the act doesn't make all wizards everywhere (government building) hostile to you. It is a scripted attack on you outdoors only. You do not lose reputation; they initiate the attack.

I've read that their attacks will continue, slowly ramping up in power, and eventually will cease after numerous waves (you've proven that you're simply too strong for them to do anything about).

They only care about spells cast outdoors in the city limits, though.
Yeah they do eventually stop once you pull an Irenicus on them.
Thanks for the info!
