Hello everyone!

When my elven fighter gets hit with a hold person effect, it doesn't affect him. The "hold person" status is there (the red cage icon) but he can still move freely.

His gear is: Varscona, plate mail +3, girdle of bluntness, medium shield +1, and gauntlets of weapon expertise.

He also has a helmet, silver necklace, and an angel skin ring - but those are normal items.

The only other thing I can think of is the bard song. I always have it activated on Garrick.

Edit: I forgot to add that I don't have any mods.

If you are playing the EE, I believe they may have added a rule that makes elves 90% immune to certain effects, which may include the hold person effect, but not the "red cage icon" effect. (Yes, I believe those two effects are technically separate effects.)

Isn't the elf racial immunity bonuses just sleep and charm? Are you saying that they added immunity to hold/stun/etc. as well? If that's true, it's absolutely insane.

I haven't played it, so this is just a guess.

Of course, there could be some other bug (in either version) that could cause this sort of thing to happen.

The complete elves' handbook says that they do get 90% resistance to sleep/charm. I'm pretty sure that isn't in vanilla BG1.

I agree that it would be absolutely ludicrous. My elven fighter's AC is insane and he gets a bunch of bonuses to hit and damage. Anything that isn't a top tier monster can't hit him and will usually get one-shotted. He's solo'd swarms of ghouls and took them out like a boss.

*Erhem*...not that I'm bragging :)

It is in vanilla BG1, but the effect (.eff) files were bugged. When I play vanilla BG1 I install Unfinished Business for one thing, and one thing only: the "Elven Charm and Sleep Racial Resistance" fix component.
