Everard's Morning Star +2
Combat ability - 50% chance per hit of making targeted spell-caster lose one spell from memory

This ability really is amazing considering Edwin's power to take down enemy protections.

For example - Rayic Gethras mission from Edwin (Mae'vars Guildhall)

Assuming Jahiera managed to cast insect plague on time and attacking Rayic with this weapon makes the entire fight a lot easier.

50% chance is simply fabulous since no other weapon allows to actually lose a spell from memory, if successfully hit. This makes a pure fighter really contribute it's sheer amazing THAC0 and make some good use of it in later fights.

Can any one share some effectiveness and usage success of this weapon? I want to consider this for Dual wielding with Flail of ages or Belm +2.
I have checked online but no info about it from any player and so require some inputs about this weapon, if any one has ever tried using it.

thanks..
Sounds like a neat ability, but the random spell lost could as easily be a level 1 spell as a level 7-9 one, and there are plenty of enemies that don't need spells to rip you a new one. Add to that the fact that it's only a +2 weapon, and I'd rather find something else to slaughter my enemies with.
It hits every enemy except Kangaxx and main villians throughout SOA.

Now, the problem is there are no hints on "Hit Die roll" screen whether any spell is lost or any animated hints when I hit mages with this weapon.
Example, at Dearnise I hit the Yuanti mage like there is no tomorrow and still it manages to cast the same spells in order, charm, confusion, held, etc.

Many mage (and cleric) enemies do their casting through scripts rather than through the normal spellcasting process, so simply removing their memorized spells often won't work. In some cases the scripts do check to see whether the spell is memorized first, but in just as many cases it doesn't. Any time you see a character casting a spell trigger or using a contingency, those aren't "real" triggers, they're just script-activated spells that are cast instantly without regard to memorization. Many bosses will also cast Death Spell endlessly and instantly whenever a summoned creature is nearby. So in general the item is only really effective against lower-level wizards who (in general) don't get free spells. It will only work on wizards, too, it won't drain priest spells.

I was curious about getting this weapon myself and did a few tests with it last night, hitting my own characters to see the results. :) There is a "puff" animation on the target when it wipes a spell, for me. And it seemed to always take the highest level spell, removing my level 8 and then level 7 spells, rather than random levels.

Next up, protections. This is more important for me, because I use the SCS mod where every spellcaster has buffs up. Surprisingly, it does hit through Stoneskin, removing spells even though the Stoneskin prevents any damage. That could be useful. It does NOT however hit through Protection from Magic Weapons (or Mantle I presume), as the spell of course makes said weapons "ineffective". Finally, as mentioned above, it does nothing against cleric / druid / priest types, even though it does show the "puff" animation of spells being lost (bug?). That was the deal breaker for me, as I was expecting from the item description that "spellcasters" would include anyone who, y'know, casts spells.

So to sum up, there is only a small window of opportunely where it can effectively wipe spells (on SCS mages in particular), after PfMW wears off and before Stoneskin. By this point I've either usually breached them, dispelled them, or they'll be dead next round from normal weapons. Perhaps it would be more useful in the vanilla game, but I think it needs to be able to wipe priest spells to justify the 14,000+ gp price. (And if I knew how to mod, I might even make it so)
