The Enhanced Editions are great, not only because they support modern computers and work on high resolutions, it opened the code for be able to bring this gems to other platforms, like mobile and consoles.

They are pretty much the same game.

The issue with Siege of Dragonspear is that messes up with the lore of The Bhaalspawn, but is still a pretty decent story. Is badly ended tho, in my opinion. They did terrible plot decisions that go against the basic lore of any bhaalspawn you may create. After the first run if, if you don't pay too much attention it may pass, but after two or three runs of SoD you can see the weakpoints where the plot gets severed and the time to read horrors comes up.
Sadly SoD is a totally forgettable even avoidable game, but the Enhanced Editions of BG, BG2, IWD and PS:T are fantastic.

Been playing through BG1:EE and am about half-way through (just getting into Baldur's Gate (the city, not the game)). Haven't encountered any bugs at all. I will say the new NPCs that were added are meh. They really don't add anything to the game but are totally avoidable.

I played through BG1 way back in the day when it first came out, then again some years ago with mods running BG1 using the BG2 engine -- that latter was a nice improvement visually, but still limited you to the original BG2 800x600 resolution and didn't include the QoL features that EE includes.

Overall, liking the EE version and haven't come across any real issues or bugs. Plan to continue on to playing BG2:EE next.

For some troglodytes play BG on a tube monitor which max resolution is 1024x768 and a mouse with a ball is far better experience than play BG on a damn widescreen doing cast from your android phone (?

You seem to have a problem that some people have different preferences than you. I'm happy to hear that you enjoy EE, but others including me, prefer classic editions. Not sure why that makes you feel superior.

And FYI, up to the moment that Beamdog withdrew classic editions from gog, the classics were outselling EE by a wide margin. So it seems that there are plenty of people who are happy to simply play classics.

I don't know. Preferences are one thing, and objective facts about a matter are another thing. I like to ride horses, but i don't go to work riding one.

I play both, unmodded. And I prefer the classic versions.

I like the ability to play the kits from the start of the saga, but you can get the same thing by modding classic BG1 into BG2's engine. The new classes are also nice, but I haven't had the chance to play them.

As far as the extra content goes... I bought SoD recently and cannot wait until I dig in, but the new NPCs break the immersion and are just... poorly written, without being too mean.

I have no problem playing the classic game on my modern Windoze 10 Intel laptop.

The game was designed for a 800×600 resolution, using a PC with 32MB RAM & video card with 2MB RAM.

The most fundamental difference with a modern display is the sheer size of the viewing area — even FHD is several orders of magnitude larger. This has a large effect on the game, since a smaller screen means the player is more focused on the immediate area surrounding the team, rather than scanning what would have been areas far beyond the horizon. It makes the game less intimate, I find, which seems to reduce the immersion and even the empathy with the little screen sprites. YMMD

The biggest difference a player will notice, methinks, is the (deliberate) decision taken by the developers to unpause the game when a player checks the inventory screen. (If you check your inventory during a battle your characters are fighting on autopilot, without you. :) This is the most likely motivation for abandoning the classic game for the remake.
