Zaxares: I'm not sure if it was ALWAYS like this in the original BG1, but in EE, Dispel Magic only has a CHANCE to dispel spell effects. The higher level you are above the original spell's caster level, the better chance you have of dispelling the spell effects. Conversely, if the enemy spellcaster is higher level than you, the lower your chance of dispelling the effect.

I don't know if Greater Doppelgangers have a pre-set caster level for their Mirror Image, but if it's very high, that might explain why your Dispel Magic never seems to work. In any case, BG1:EE has other Divination spells available that can instantly remove Mirror Image, such as Detect Illusion (Lv3) and Oracle (Lv5). It might be worth memorizing a couple of these if the Greater Doppelgangers are proving a big stumbling block.

I've been using dispel magic on the greater doppelgangers (after using mirror image) and it's not working. Was it always like this? I think I remember it being able to dispel mirror image.
