pomenitul: Thank you!
I almost forgot what is perhaps the most important issue: is there a mod to undo all the balance changes? If I recall correctly, they introduced BG2 kits and spell selection in BG1.
I'm not aware of any mod that disables the kits and new classes added by BG2. But none of the BG1 NPCs use kits, so you can simply not choose a kit or BG2 class for your PC and that becomes a non-issue.
And I'm not aware of any mods which remove the BG2 spells from BG1 and/or revert spell effects to how they behaved in BG1. No way around this, although the upside is that once you learn how a spell works in BG1 it keeps working that way in BG2 -- so at least it's consistent.
There are many other smaller changes to BG1 EE to make the gameplay identical to BG2 which you'll also encounter:
- Weapon proficiencies use the BG2 version. A mod called Tweaks Anthology includes a component to change the system back to the way it worked in BG1 (
https://github.com/Gibberlings3/Tweaks-Anthology)
- Thief skills work as they do in BG2: i.e. Stealth was split into Hide in Shadows and Move Silently; Set Traps and Detect Illusion were added, etc. No way to revert this that I'm aware of.
- Characters gain experience from class-specific non-combat actions like picking locks, disarming traps, memorizing spells, etc. as they do in BG2. Tweaks Anthology, mentioned above, includes a component that can disable this.
- Area maps include markers for points of interest as in BG2. No way to disable this that I'm aware of.
- Spell effect visuals look like BG2. No way to revert this that I'm aware of.
- Holding ALT highlights interactable objects like in BG2. I suppose you could disable your ALT key...
- Various other abilities changed to work how they do in BG2 (too many little things to keep track of them all - but you'll surely find differences if you look hard enough)
Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
