Hi,

Windows 7 64 bit here. I run EasyTutu as an administrator. It extracts to C:\Temp\EasyTutuSetup, runs setup.exe and hangs. I set the options for setup.exe so it's run in the XP compatibility mode, as an administrator, with the desktop themes etc turned off. Nothing happens, have to kill setup.exe from the task manager. Any pointers? I'd really like to play this game using the BG2 engine.

Is baldur's gate 1 installed outside the 'program files' directory? It should be. Also, when you specify the easytutu game directory, make it outside 'program files'.

Yes, it's outside "Program files". And I'm before the stage at which I can specify the game directory - as I wrote, easyTutu unpacks to a temp directory, then runs setup.exe and hangs.
I had the same problem as you. I did the following and I'm not sure what exactly fixed it:

- Extracted EasyTutu to the drive on which I installed BG1 and BG2
- Killed rundll32 and any other processes that seemed unecessary (can't remember which exactly)
- Tried about 30 times

None of the Compatibility Modes did any good, of that I am sure.

If you ever manage to fix it please post your findings as well!

Do you have User Account Control enabled in Windows 7? It's on by default and others have reported compatibility issues with it.

If so, disable it and try.

Thanks, guys! Unfortunately I had given up and installed just the widescreen mod and some fixes and got the game running. Still, thank you, I'll try your advice when reinstalling some other time.

Killing the rundll32 was what did it. Man, thank you so much! It's a problem of that entire generation of installer, I couldn't get my old copy of X - BtF to install as well because of that, for example.
Thought I would add my experience here -
I have win 7 64bit. Easytutu was extracted to c:/temp/easytutusetup. Bg1 and 2 were on D drive.
Initially I had problems same as you have described.
I set the combatibility mode for 3 files in the extracted easytutu folder to winxp sp2 -
_ISDel.exe, setup.exe & TutuCore.exe
Setup worked after I did this.
Just thought I'd chime in that killing a lingering rundll32 was what did it for me. Thanks Dr_Asik
If any other Windows 7 users are having troubles installing EasyTutu, please try the beta mentioned in the post linked below and let me know how it goes.

just start windows in safe mode before installing easytutu, that solved the problem for me

This worked for me, too. Seconded thanks.

Same here. I'd already tried to run Setup.exe manually.

Killing rundll32 brought up the easy tutu install window instantly. :)
