Hi there, I'm new to Baldur's Gate and GOG in general. I just purchased BG2 Complete and am trying to play it on my laptop (Lenovo Y510P). The screen resolution is 1920x1080, so when I launch the game, it's nothing but a tiny rectangle in the middle of my screen... I have to practically squint to see/read anything. So I figured I'd try the widescreen fix. Problem is, after installing the widescreen fix, the game becomes off-center so I can only see the top left corner of the game (attached screenshot).

I've heard nothing but good things about this game and would love to get into it, but if it's stuck at this size, it's practically unplayable; I'll get a headache just trying to see what's going on. Any help would be appreciated!

I too am having a problem with the widescreen mod. I installed BGII Complete via GOG Galaxy, installed the BGII Fixpack, then the widescreen mod.

My problem is that each time I start the game it asks me to run the config, and it is overwriting the mod. I am stuck playing it at the original resolution.
DDDTrouper: The widescreen mod is not a fix for scaling problems.
You need to address that before applying any mods.
You need to look for display scaling options in your display cards control panel.

scoobydooami: The widescreen mod will override the display settings set with config.exe

Starting the game with baldur.exe, instead of the launcher should stop it asking you to run config.exe.
Are you going right into the game?
The widescreen mod only takes effect once in the actual game.

One note about the widescreen mod.
If you choose a high resolution & then decide everything is too small & lower it.
START A NEW GAME.
All the problems with the widescreen mod stem from people changing the resolution mid game. (You can't do that)
I'm having the same problem at first. I tried to do what olnorton said and set it to 1680x1050 and Scale Full Screen in the display control panel, and then I set it to 1680x1050 in the widescreen mod configuration. Now it just shows the normal tiny screen in game same as before the mod was installed.
Does your display driver allow you to choose scaling by GPU or Display?
Or Override scaling set by games?
This pic is my Nvidia settings.

Also I think when you get it sorted, you will find 1680X1050 will make things a little small.
I have a large monitor & only use 1280x720.

I think I might have been in the wrong menu before. When I go to that menu it doesn't show the desktop option you have.

olnorton: Thanks! Checking "override scaling by games" and "full-screen" in the Nvidia control panel seems to have fixed the issue for me.

The only thing I can suggest Kephin.615 is you display drivers are pretty old, they're up to 352.86 now, so maybe the newer drivers might give you more options.
I tried updating the driver but I guess the problem was that intel is the primary graphics card for my computer. I got it to work by disabling 3D acceleration in the bgconfig menu so now it stretches across the screen. Not sure why that was causing the problem.

Thank you! I think I was just going into the launcher, rather than baldur.exe. I had also been experimenting around with different resolutions and using the text mod.

I will just start a fresh game with my resolution.
